About the university
Henan University of Technology (HAUT), located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary university with engineering as its primary discipline. It also offers science, economics, management, literature, agriculture, medicine, law, and art programs, making it a dynamic institution that integrates technology and the humanities.
Founded in 1956, the university traces its roots to two major educational institutions: the Central Grain Cadre School and the Zhengzhou Machinery Manufacturing School. The Central Grain Cadre School was the first grain-related college established in New China, initially located in Beijing before moving to Zhengzhou in 1960. It was later renamed Zhengzhou Grain College and Zhengzhou Engineering College, under various national ministries. The Zhengzhou Machinery Manufacturing School also underwent several transformations and mergers, evolving under the Ministry of Machinery. 2004 the two schools officially merged to form Henan University of Technology, which the Ministry of Education approved.
Over the decades, HAUT has grown into a key provincial institution. It has been selected for several national and provincial programs, including the “Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China” (2012), the national “2011 Plan” (2013), and the “Double First-Class” University initiative in Henan Province (2021). In 2020, it was also recognized as a Characteristic Backbone University of Henan Province.

Accommodation
Henan University of Technology (HAUT) offers safe, comfortable, and well-equipped on-campus accommodations for international students, providing a convenient living environment that supports both study and daily life. A single room costs about 50 RMB per person per day, totaling around 18,250 RMB annually, while a double room costs 30 RMB per person per day, approximately 10,950 RMB per year. These rates are based on a 365-day stay, giving students clarity and flexibility regarding housing costs.
All rooms are fully furnished and feature modern amenities such as 24-hour hot water, air conditioning, a television, a telephone, and kitchen access. Each room offers a comfortable space for studying and living, allowing students to focus on their academics while enjoying a homelike atmosphere. While each room has a telephone, students are responsible for their own call charges. Internet access is available in every room for a small monthly fee of 60 to 80 RMB.
